Wireless charging mounts are attractive products — mounting and power in one clean experience. They are also more complex than a mechanical holder, because coil alignment, heat and electrical safety all affect whether the product performs as customers expect.

Why charging mounts are a different project

A mechanical mount is judged on hold, fit and finish. A charging mount is judged on all of those plus whether the phone charges reliably, stays cool and passes whatever the destination market requires. That means the brief needs to cover questions a plain mount does not.

The decisions to settle

AreaQuestion to settle
Power outputWhat charging speed does the target phone expect, and what is realistic for the intended vehicle application?
Coil & alignmentHow will the phone align with the coil across the target phone sizes and cases? Fast-charge modes often depend on precise alignment.
Thermal behaviourHow is heat managed during sustained charging, and how is that verified?
Phone compatibilityWhich phones and cases must charge, and are there known exceptions?
Certification & testingWhat does the destination market require, and what testing demonstrates it?
Power inputUSB-C, 12V socket, or hardwired? This affects the electronics and the packaging.

Important: the answers above are project decisions, not published specs. A responsible supplier will confirm power, thermal, compatibility, certification and testing for your specific project rather than quoting fixed numbers from a sales page.

Testing should be named, not implied

"Qi-certified" and "fast charging" are claims that need evidence for your market and your configuration. Before committing, ask:

  • What is being tested, on which phones, and to which standard?
  • Who performs the test, and will you receive the report?
  • Does the certification cover the final product as shipped, not just a component?

A supplier who answers these specifically is a better partner than one who promises "all certifications" up front.

How charging mounts fit an existing range

If you already sell mechanical mounts, a charging mount is a natural range extension — same customer, higher price point, more technical story. It can be built on a similar mounting mechanism, so the range stays visually consistent while adding an electrical layer. See the wireless charging mount page for the product direction.

Prepare your charging mount brief

Bring the vehicle application, target phones, expected charging behaviour, industrial design intent, mounting method, market and volume. See the sourcing brief checklist for the full input list, or send the brief to discuss a direction.
